Family Essentials Africa 2026

Richard & Laurie Godsil

Strengthening marriages, parenting, fatherhood, and family discipleship across Africa.

In August 2026, Laurie and I will travel to Africa to train pastors, ministry leaders, fathers, and families using the Family Essentials curriculum.

Our mission is simple: equip leaders to build Christ-like marriages, raise godly children, and strengthen families that reflect the heart of Jesus.

This page is your home for updates, stories, photos, prayer needs, and ways to partner with us.

Trip Overview

Dates: August–September 2026

Locations: Uganda, Nigeria, Cameroon

Mission Focus: Family Essentials Training

Partner Ministries: Great Commission Alliance + local African churches

Purpose of the Trip:

Family Essentials is a Christ-centered training designed to transform marriages, parenting, fatherhood, and relationships. We will be equipping pastors and leaders who will take this training back to their churches, villages, and nations — multiplying the impact far beyond what we could ever do alone.

What We’ll Be Doing:

  • Teaching Family Essentials workshops

  • Training pastors and leaders to teach the material themselves

  • Strengthening marriages through biblical principles

  • Equipping fathers to lead their homes with love and integrity

  • Encouraging families to live out Christ-like relationships

  • Commissioning leaders from multiple nations to carry Family Essentials forward

Across Africa, pastors and leaders repeatedly tell us the same thing: “Our churches are growing, but our families are hurting.”

Family Essentials addresses the core issues affecting homes today:

  • Marriages under pressure

  • Fathers absent or overwhelmed

  • Parents unsure how to disciple their children

  • Leaders needing tools to strengthen families in their churches

By training leaders in Family Essentials, we help them:

  • Build Christ-centered marriages

  • Raise children who know and follow Jesus

  • Restore the role of fathers

  • Heal broken relationships

  • Strengthen churches from the inside out

This is discipleship at the family level — where transformation lasts for generations.

TEACHING SPOTLIGHT

“Teaching fathers how to lead their homes with love”

Unconditional Love: Perhaps the most profound aspect is God’s unconditional love.

A nurturing father loves his children regardless of their flaws or mistakes.

Pastor Roland Kang from Limbe, Cameroon, recently shared these powerful words: “The recent marriage conference brought much-needed insights into fatherhood, loving relationships, and roles within marriage and the church. Families were strengthened, and churches united under shared values and a deeper understanding of love and commitment.”

Pastor Kang and his daughter, Joy
